The Careers in Manufacturing Program (CMP) is a vocational training program that is certified by the Illinois State Board of Education.
Curriculum
- Shop math
- Quality control
- Precision measurement
- Blueprint reading
- Workplace Safety
- Punch press die setting
- Introduction to CNC operation and programming
- Machine shop:
Drill press
Milling machine (knee mill)
Lathe
Band saw, grinder
- Shipping and Receiving
- Forklift operation (students with drivers' licenses receive OSHA certification)
Also included is training on:
- Computers (Microsoft Word, Internet, and E-mail)
- Work readiness (problem solving, employer expectations, company tours, interviewing skills)
- Financial education (saving, budgeting, credit and debt, homeownership)
Program Schedule
14 weeks, Monday - Friday, 9:30am to 2:30pm
Graduation and Job Placement
To graduate, participants must pass final exams and maintain an excellent attendance record. After trainees graduate, we will provide them with job placement assistance. Participants will also receive bus passes during training and job search.
