Job Title: Client Services Coordinator

ORGANIZATION
The Jane Addams Resource Corporation (JARC) promotes strong communities, businesses and households to ensure that people who work do not live in poverty. JARC provides high quality skills training and support services to help lower-income and unemployed workers achieve self-sufficiency. JARC provides economic and workforce development services to businesses to improve their competitiveness.
JARC is committed to building a Center for Working Families (CWF), which provides a supportive and resource-rich environment where low- and middle-income families can access employment and career advancement opportunities, income supports, and financial tools and services. Through a new approach of outreach, coaching, and a set of bundled services, CWFs assist participants in reaching economic stability. JARC seeks to accomplish this with the support of employers to the greatest extent possible. The Financial Coach will work to integrate JARC’s existing programs into the CWF model.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Client Services Coordinator (CSC) will be responsible for offering employment related services to participants in JARC’s Center for Working Families (CWF) and Careers in Manufacturing Program (CMP). The CSC will assist participants in identifying barriers to employment and in developing skills and resources needed to find and maintain employment. Through one-on-one and group job coaching, the CSC will assist participants through career/vocational and job readiness counseling, referral, placement and other related services. Additionally, the CSC will conduct job development and maintain ongoing relationships with manufacturing and other employers and employment agencies.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS
- Ability to screen and assess individuals for resources needed and for barriers to employment
- Understand issues presented by disadvantaged adult job seekers in addition to providing compassionate service
- Effective communicator as a job readiness instructor in a group classroom environment and in one-on-one coaching
- Skilled with the Internet and Microsoft Word for all job related computer needs
- Comfortable with data management for case notes and reports
- Interest in sectoral employment strategies – particularly related to manufacturing
- Skilled in developing and maintaining partnerships with employers and other social service agencies in the Chicagoland area
- Must possess an ability to work independently and as part of the Services Team
- Provide innovative and creative approaches to job and resource development as JARC seeks to integrate and bundle services
- Bilingual in Spanish/English required
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Assist the Senior Client Services Coordinator with program recruitment and in program job coaching for the Careers in Manufacturing Program
- Connect and refer participants to resources, training, educational programs and/or employment
- Assist with resume and cover letter preparation
- Provide one-on-one job coach assistance and screen for barriers to employment (i.e. homelessness, poverty, substance abuse, criminal background, literacy, need for skills upgrade, etc.)
- Promote internal bundling of services within the agency’s Services Team
- Offer group workplace readiness workshops
- Provide ongoing follow up services and monitor and track participant progress in CWF database software
- Establish relationships with local employers and training providers in order to identify appropriate referrals
- Create and manage Employment Resource Room
- Report to Education and Human Development Director and participate in Services Team
- Assist Senior Client Services Coordinator in the Manufacturing Training Division with tasks as needed
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
- BA in Social Service related field or equivalent experience
- 1-2 years of social services experience in employment service or other related experience working with adults faced with diverse barriers to finding and retaining employment preferred
