Friday, October 30, 2009, 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM
8430 W Bryn Mawr Ave, Suite 1000, Chicago, IL 60631
Faced with reduced spending on the part of traditional customers, today's job shops are challenged by the need to develop new products and markets. This half day workshop will present three experts in their respective fields. Greg Lane of the Low Volume Lean Center and author of "Made to Order Lean" will discuss the correct application of lean principles to high-mix low-volume environments, particularly for suppliers to the wind turbine industry. Noel Davis of Vela Gear Systems, a supplier to the wind turbine industry, will discuss his approach to new product and market development. Mike Collins of MPC Management and author of "Saving American Manufacturing" will discuss the specific opportunities and challenges of new product and market development for the job shop with several examples from his extensive experience as a manager and consultant. The workshop will be followed by a working lunch.
