Real Estate Development Initiative
Our Real Estate Development Initiative represents one of JARC's most effective community-based economic development programs.
It began in 1989 to assist in the retention and expansion of manufacturing and commercial businesses, and has found continued success thanks to an ongoing collaboration of public, private, and institutional partners.
Our non-profit subsidiaries - the Jane Addams Development (JADC) and Delta Development (JADDC) Corporations - have successfully redeveloped 120,000 square feet of mixed-use property in the heart of the Ravenswood Corridor in Chicago.
In 2007, a fourth redevelopment project at 22,000 sqaure feet was purchased in West Garfield Park. Scheduled for completion by the end of 2007, the project represents JARC's first redevelopment venture on the west side of Chicago where business development and job creation needs are much greater.

Today, the four properties house over 28 small and medium-sized companies that employ over 250 workers. Tenants range from metalworking, woodworking and apparel manufacturers to computer and service firms. Past JADC/JADDC tenants have expanded and invested over $4 million in owner-occupied properties in and around the Ravenswood neighborhood.
