Gerardo Salazar
Client Intake Specialist
Gerardo Salazar serves as JARC's Client Intake Specialist (CIS). As the CIS, he leads JARC's orientation sessions, makes referrals to JARC programs and services, and supports outcome tracking. Gerardo brings a wealth of experience in Center for Working Families programs to his current position, including two years in the LISC AmeriCorps Program. While serving as JARC's Employment Coach / LISC AmeriCorps Member in 2009-2010, he proactively assisted jobseekers through one-on-one resume preparation, interviewing skills, job placement, and retention concerns; he also provided job readiness workshops to trainees. During the 2009-2010 program year, Gerardo researched best practices in Employment Services and Income Supports, supporting continuous program improvement. Gerardo brings additional not-for-profit work experience to JARC, particularly in the area of community revitalization, which he acquired through working with teens and community members of South Chicago. Gerardo received his AA with an emphasis on Foreign Language and Latin American Studies from Harold Washington College. He looks forward to helping participants gain the experiences, skills, and the opportunities needed to achieve their personal and professional goals.
