Kate Goldstein
 Literacy Volunteers of Illinois AmeriCorps Member
Kate Goldstein comes to JARC through the AmeriCorps Literacy Volunteers of Illinois as an intern for the Adult Learners Program Services (ALPS). She brings a strong interest in adult literacy and past experience in adult education and tutoring. Kate, a Chicago native, graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with degrees in Sociology and Women’s Studies. During her undergraduate career she volunteered with a center for migrant workers, tutoring in Adult Basic Education and Pre-GED studies. Kate’s position at JARC involves the recruitment of new ALPS students and tutors, preparation for the program, and occasional tutoring. Her favorite aspects of her job are talking to prospective volunteers and watching students succeed.
