Every March we partner with The Center for Economic Progress and local volunteers to provide free tax services to qualified applicants, including filling out tax forms. Tax Blast occurs on one Saturday in March, and applicants are encouraged to schedule appointments in advance of the event.
Participants can also attend the Tax Blast in order to receive Individual Taxpayer Identification Numbers (ITINs). ITINs permit immigrants to pay taxes, legitimizing economic activity in a variety of ways. Receiving an ITIN opens up doors of opportunity for immigrants, paving the way not only for normalized taxes but also for bank accounts and access to some forms of credit.
The next JARC Tax Blast will occur on Saturday, March 8, 2008.
