Become a tutor for JARC's Adult Learners Program Services (ALPS) and help change a life! No prior experience is necessary; training, support, and materials are provided. Our students are dedicated to improving themselves through education. The tutoring sessions are guided by each student's goals, and progress is measured through periodic testing. Benefits of Tutoring You will be able to create a strong relationship with your students, receive the satisfaction of knowing that you have had a positive impact on their lives, and help them gain the skills they need to make productive changes in their lives, families, and communities. Time Commitment We provide one-on-one tutoring for adult learners on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:30 - 8:00 pm. Tutoring sessions involve helping people work on their reading, writing, math, pre-GED, or English as a Second Language skills. We ask our volunteers to commit to at least one of those evenings for a minimum of six months. How to Get Involved If you're interested in volunteering or would like more information, please contact Danielle Hammel at 773.728.9769 x 26 or by e-mail. |
