Earlier this month, JARC VP Regan Brewer and Senior Director Emily Doherty were invited to an international conference of nonprofits funded by the Chanel Foundation in Paris, France. The theme was “Paving the Road Toward Women’s Empowerment,” and 36 countries were represented. Topics covered cross-sectional approaches to women’s empowerment, impact measurement, and gender transformative programming. During the presentation on access to employment and vocational training, Regan was asked to share about JARC’s approach. “We were able to learn from experts who take diverse approaches to ensuring women’s empowerment through economic opportunity,” Emily said. “It’s been humbling to be with so many amazing women and men working on gender equity issues across the globe,” Regan added. #womeninmanufacturing

JARC is proud to be at the table! Let's hear it for digital learners and instructors!
Lilia first came to JARC for computer classes. Then she signed up for one-on-one tutoring to work on reading comprehension and fluency. She also worked with tutors on math, writing, and workforce development goals. Her reading score increased by one grade level and her math score by nearly two. She loved creative writing. Then she enrolled in JARC's Manufacturing Bridge Training program. After deciding manufacturing was not a good career fit, she was accepted into an Administrative Support training program. The fundamental skills she gained during her time at JARC helped make her #jobready. #AEFLWeek #AdultEd

When people can’t afford thousands of dollars in tickets, Chicago slams residents with excessive #FinesandFees, then takes their driver’s licenses if they fall behind on payments. But no license = no way to work = no way out of debt. We believe in fair and equitable policies that support all families regardless of their income level. That's why we're advocating for the #License2Work Act. Learn more at license2work.org #DrivenIntoDebt #StopSuspendingLives
