Exciting news! Yesterday, JARC #welding graduate Tonce (center) was honored as the Individual Achievement Award winner for Cook County by the Illinois Workforce Partnership and Chicago Cook Workforce Partnership. This award seeks to recognize the accomplishments of a jobseeker who sought assistance to achieve new career goals, progressed through services in a timely and focused manner, and attained a credential or job in their field of training – all of which Tonce accomplished while she was with us at JARC. Congratulations Tonce, we are all so proud!

Congratulations to recent JARC graduate Charles W.! He landed a terrific job at Freedman Seating (http://www.freedmanseating.com/) in Chicago on the spot after his interview last week. After overcoming some tremendous barriers to employment, Charles will be working on 2nd shift as a Laser Operator, earning $15.50/hr with full benefits including a 401K. During his training at JARC, he had a great attitude and was always open to feedback and constructive criticism. Nice work!
Today was Career Exploration Day for 17 young people (ages 18-24) from the Manufacturing Careers Internship Program. They visited JARC to learn more about CNC training from Adonis Summerville. Similar to JARC, this program http://oaiinc.org/our-work/ serves both at-risk young adults and employers by recruiting, screening and training job-seekers for employment in industries with demand for talent. Recent JARC grad Ben F. started a new full-time job as a welder/fabricator at Bridgewater Studio (https://www.bridgewaterstudio.net/) in Chicago! His 1st shift position will pay $16/hour. Ben served as JARC’s shop lead for our welding program, assisting other trainees with patience and diligence. Congratulations!

Christmas came early this year! JARC is now the proud owner of a NEW CNC machine at its training center in Ravenswood. This Haas Automation, Inc. Mini Mill will add capacity so that JARC trainees can earn their NIMS credentials faster.
