D'Andra's Story

A Serendipitous Path

D'Andra followed in her mother's footsteps, also forging a manufacturing career.

"So many different aspects lead me [to JARC]," D'Andra said. But the most serendipitous moment occurred when she attended that first application session.  On a plaque thanking JARC’s biggest supporters, D’Andra saw S&C Electric Company, the name of the manufacturing company her mother used to work for.  It was too much of a coincidence to ignore.

In 2015, D’Andra enrolled in JARC’s Computer Numerical Control (CNC) Fast Track program. At first, jumping into the program with a limited technical background was intimidating. However, her favorite part of the program quickly became “those aha moments,” when she finally understood something new. In just a few months, D’Andra was promoted to shift supervisor of her class.

During the program, D’Andra struggled with some unexpected issues. She was a victim of identity theft and her mother developed serious health issues. “I was devastated,” she said. When asked how she was able to get through this difficult time period, she said, “I still got work to do.” She explained, “[There are] a lot of things in my life I didn't get a chance to finish so it became a goal of mine to just finish [the CNC program].”

Today, D'Andra is Lead Production at AllCell Technologies. What was her favorite memory at JARC? When she found out that the rest of the class, including the instructor, had a favorite “D’Andra moment,” she laughed.
